The 2022 Linn County Small Woodlands Association Seedling Sale is on track for another successful year with proceeds providing college scholarships, 4-H awards, and other educational programs. We have received over two hundred pre-orders with more than 10,000 plants ready to be packaged and delivered at our seedling sale. With the help of our amazing and dedicated volunteers, we look forward to making that happen!

A small group of volunteers recently gathered at Steve & Katie Kohl’s forestland to dig and wrap more than 100 sword ferns in preparation for the sale. A huge “thank you” to them for generously sharing their bounty of sword ferns!

The nurseries are going to have great weather to get those plants dug and gathered for our sale. We sold out of several favorites such as Nordmann Fir, Blue Elderberry, Indian-Plum, and Red Flowering Currant. We are working with the nurseries to get additional stock on other plants. There may be a slight variation in sizes, based on what the nurseries have available after our initial order.

Seedling Stock Update

  • We sold out of several favorites such as Nordmann Fir, Blue Elderberry, Indian-Plum, Vine Maple, and Red Flowering Currant.
  • We will also be adding native plants Douglas Spirea and Pacific Ninebark (not on our pre-order form) to our plants available on Saturday.

A broad selection of plants will still be available on Saturday, February 5th from 8 am to 12 noon in the Santiam Building at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center if you are looking for more plants or missed the pre-order deadline. We will also be adding native plants Douglas Spirea and Pacific Ninebark (not on our pre-order form) to our plants available on Saturday. Feel free to invite your friends, family, and co-workers to our sale, which highlights native plants and trees.

We are also excited to welcome back the Local Woods Fair! We look forward to having a dozen vendors selling wood related products and organizations sharing information and answering questions you may have about your plants or forest lands.

If you have questions about the seedling sale, feel free to contact Bonnie Marshall at bonniem@wvi.com or 503 769-6510. We look forward to seeing you at the seedling sale on February 5, 2022!
