On Saturday, June 4 we will have a tour at Bogwood, an 80-acre mixed-species forest along Ede Road in the foothills near Roaring River County Park. Owners Lee Peterman and Shirley Jolliff were LCSWA tree farmers of the year in 2020.

Bogwood is an 80-acre former Willamette/Weyerhaeuser woodlot, clear cut in 1996 and replanted in 1997-98. The planned tour will ramble through the wet-prairie restoration (the “bog” of Bogwood) – hopefully, the wildflowers will cooperate and still be in bloom; and continue through lightly thinned stands of Ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir — part of the ongoing efforts for forest resilience and fire resistance in an NRCS EQIP contract. Demonstrations of battery/electric equipment, chainsaws, and sawmill; including a new custom-built log arch will follow the tour.

  • Refreshments and healthy snack items will be provided.
  • Sensible footwear is recommended as ground conditions may be wet.
  • No pets, please.

Forest landowners who attend this event and are not members of the Oregon Small Woodlands Association will be offered FREE MEMBERSHIP for the remainder of this year. This is the second of four Tree Farm Tours to be held in Linn County in the summer of 2022.

Directions: From junction with Hwy 226 drive 4.7 miles east on Fish Hatchery Drive then turn right on Ede road. Drive 1.2 miles on Ede road to Bogwood farm which is on your right. Tree farm signs will help direct you.
