Rod and Ann Bardell are hosting a tour of their 25-acre property.

We will view a Douglas-fir stand that the Bardells planted in 1991 and commercially thinned in 2019.  Discussion will focus on methods to maintain the health of your forestland while reducing the risk of wildfire.

The Bardell’s have planted about 30 species of trees so you might want to bring along your copy of Trees to Know in Oregon.

Rod and Ann Bardell were the Linn County Tree Farmers of the year in 2013. Rod retired as a stewardship forester for the Oregon Department of Forestry. He now heads the team that inspects and certifies tree farms in Linn County.

Rod and Ann use their farm to teach youth about the wonders of nature and the values of forest management. They do this by hosting a Pathfinders youth camp on their property each year.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided by the Linn County Small Woodlands Association.
