Spring Noxious Weed Tour
About the Event
From LCSWA President Jim Merzenich:
We are having a twilight walking tour of our property to view noxious weeds and brush and discuss means of controlling them. We will walk through restored meadows and oak woodlands where we graze cattle, pine and fir stands that have been thinned, and view a mixed Douglas-fir and incense cedar stand planted in 2020.
Weeds that we will discuss include Italian thistle, Canada thistle, shiny geranium, tansy ragwort, foxglove, European hawthorn, blackthorn, and nonnative blackberries.
Snacks and drinks will be provided. Sturdy boots are recommended. The walking loop is about 1.5 miles in length and mostly on mowed or rock roads.
The address and Google Map are below. From Hwy OR-228 in Brownsville turn south on Washburn Street (aka Gap Road). Drive 4.9 miles then turn left onto Northernwood Drive. Drive to the end of Northernwood and follow the signs.
