Scio gathering includes potluck, business session and 4-H awards
Moved up a week from past years, members of the Linn County Small Woodlands Association will gather Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Scio for the annual meeting.
Board members met Dec. 7 and set the date. Membership has grown steadily in recent years and is now at 131 members.
The annual event begins at 5 pm with our traditional potluck meal. Smoked meats, casseroles, salads, veggie dishes, and desserts are the usual tasty fare brought by participants. Families bring their own table settings. The LCSWA supplies punch and coffee.
Chapter members will get a post card with the meeting information in the mail near the end of December.
A business meeting follows dinner. There are three board of directors to elect. Two are existing board members that have agreed to run for another three-year term, and one is to fill a current vacant position. Revisions to our chapter bylaws also need membership approval.
The Board reviewed and approved the bylaw revisions at its December 2023 meeting. Changes include procedural changes relating to board members and their terms, allowing “zoom” meetings for the board, revising the Treasurer’s job description, defining the fiscal year and budget requirements, and cleaning up some grammatical errors. Members will receive a digital copy of the bylaws attached to an email in late December.
A guest speaker will be part of the business program, as well as 4-H scholarship presentations.
Also, the Bell Family will be honored as the LCSWA 2023 Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year.
We hope to see you at the annual meeting!
