Deciduous shrub/tree, usually to 20-30 ft with a spreading to erect habit.   Flowers small, white, fragrant, attract pollinators.  Fruit are rounded, purple-black, edible, sweet.  Fruit may be used fresh, dried, cooked or raw.  Berries are also popular with wildlife.  Grows well in sun or part shade and ordinary garden soil.  Can be used for erosion control.
