Pamelia LLC Tree Farm Tour
About the Event
Join Linn County Small Woodlands Association on the wild side for a driving and walking tour in northeast Linn County just off Highway 22. Pamelia Timber, LLC is a 750-acre timbered parcel that narrowly escaped wildfires in 2017 and the 2020 Labor Day Fires. It is surrounded by Willamette National Forest and close to Mt Jefferson Wilderness.
The property, owned by sisters Bonnie Marshall, Lucy Bishop, and Melissa Shaw was owned and managed by their dad, Robert Young, prior to his passing in 2003. Lance and Bonnie Marshall, along with other family members, will serve as hosts and tour guides exploring many unique features and some challenges not often encountered on OSWA tours in the Willamette Valley. The owners will discuss a bit of the history of the property as well as share more recent developments in the past 25 years, including a bridge project, road construction and maintenance, two 5-acre harvest units on a steep slope and an adjacent 165-acre fire salvage clearcut.
There will be several walking portions on good roads, one approximately a half mile, one approximately a mile (with lunch halfway through), and several shorter walks. Participants may drive their own vehicle if unable to walk those distances.
Exact driving directions will be provided after OSU Extension receives and reviews your registration. Access to the property is directly off Hwy 22, a major travel route from Salem to Bend.
